Concentrates for experienced consumers
Concentrates are extracts that hold much more THC by weight than flower: waxes, shatters, live resins and rosins among them. Triple M extracts its own in Plymouth and carries partner concentrates at both stores. They are best suited to experienced consumers.
Concentrates preserve cannabinoids and terpenes in a small, potent form. They are typically used with a dab rig or a concentrate vaporizer, and a very small amount goes a long way.
The main types
Wax and shatter describe texture after solvent extraction. Live resin is made from fresh-frozen plants to keep more of the original terpenes. Rosin is made with heat and pressure instead of solvents. Ask a budtender which formats are on the shelf this week, because concentrate stock changes quickly.
Limits worth knowing
Adults 21+ can possess up to five grams of concentrate outside the home in Massachusetts, separate from the one ounce flower limit. If you have never used concentrates, start with flower or a vape first.
