Why register as a patient if adult use is legal?
Three practical reasons. First, tax: adult use purchases in Massachusetts carry a 10.75% excise tax, 6.25% sales tax and up to 3% local tax, while medical purchases carry none of them. Second, potency: adult use edibles are limited to 5mg of THC per serving, and medical products are not held to that cap, which matters for patients who need a higher dose without eating a whole package. Third, possession: registered patients may possess a 60-day supply, which the state defines as up to 10 ounces, or more if a certifying provider documents the need.
Triple M started as a medical company
Triple M was founded in 2014 by local professionals who saw the medical benefits of cannabis and wanted better access for patients in Southeastern Massachusetts. Plymouth served patients before adult use sales began in the state, and the Mashpee medical dispensary opened in April 2018, before any adult use store existed on the Upper Cape. What to bring on your visit
- Your active Massachusetts medical marijuana patient or caregiver card. The state does not accept expired cards.
- A valid government photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID, passport or military ID.
- Cash, a debit card for an ATM-style transaction, or the CanPay app.
No appointment is needed. Walk in, or reserve products ahead on the Mashpee or Plymouth menu and choose the medical menu when prompted.
Caregivers
Only caregivers registered with the Cannabis Control Commission for a specific patient can buy on that patient's behalf. Family members without a caregiver registration cannot purchase medical products for a patient, even with the patient's card in hand.
